Does stress take a vacation when you do?

Normally, the first advice people give when you mention “stress” is to “take a vacation,” or “get some downtime.”

But why is it I just got off the phone with a middle-aged business owner who just had a two-week vacation in Hawaii...and is completely exhausted and burning out on the flight home?

He said the vacation was perfect. Lots of downtime. Plenty of resting on the beach. Yet, he’s still dealing with fatigue, weight gain, anxiety, joint pains, and muscle aches. In today’s episode, we explore why stress doesn’t go on vacation when you do, and the misnomer behind the socially accepted concept of “downtime.”
